I have an original draw-tight trailer hitch for a 1967 Camaro. I am in the process of moving. I am thinking about getting a small utility trailer to help in the move across town. I’ve never towed anything before & don’t know a thing about it.

If I get a small utility trailer for the Camaro (or rent one from u-haul), how do I hook up the brake lights?

Do I have to spice into the existing wire harness, or is there some type of “plug in” type harness I could buy somewhere? Thanks

There are plug in wire harnesses that work with your current tail lights and plug into a trailer. Most auto parts stores carry them as well as WalMart. You just need to find the kit for your vehicle ... take the tail light assemblies out ... plug in the wire harness ... put the assemblies back in and your done. No splicing. They come with a quick connect plug on them. Pretty easy and neat setup. I installed it in my old pick up and they worked well.

If you rent a trailer, they will usually supply you with the correct hook-up and even do it for you.

Good for you my friend.

Those little Uhaul trailers or a small utility trailer are perfect for the 2000# original camaro hitch.

Wirng is simple as you go splice into the wires in the trunk. R & L signals plus brake lights on the same circuit. Driving light and ground on the others.

Since Chevy founded the basic wiring trailer harness. ( colors matching yellow-green brown and white) All you need do is pick up a simple 4 flat vehicle end with a pigtail( ribbon wire- yellow green brown and white. and go to work with your test light in the trunk. leave the connection in the trunk when not using it and it stays new about forever. You can actually use a safety pin to connect to trailer wires.. as that is how it was originally done from 46-55..

Times have changed but chevy's harness remains the same!!!

If you need instructions .. you can call up any U-haul and they can research a databse and pul up the hitch instructions for you.
It is my job...
regards.
