Thanks camjoe63 Apr 23rd, 08, 11:14 AM I am using stainless fuel lines because of what Ethanol gas will do to steel lines over time. But OEM brake lines will be ok using the DOT4 fluid. Remember that fuels have changed over time and brake fluid has changed as well so some of the original parts will not hold up to todays fluids. My 02 Eric Kammerer Apr 23rd, 08, 11:28 AM I have used both types on a couple different Camaros, and for the pre-bent, pre-terminated lines either kind is fine. For guys who like to bend and flare their own, the stainless can be a lot harder to work with. As long as you don't go nuts polishing the stainless lines, the stainless lines and the regular steel lines are actually pretty similar looking right out of the box. It's down the road a few years, when the steel lines have started to discolor/corrode that the difference is obvious. 69mustang Apr 23rd, 08, 11:59 AM So from a car show judge's point of view it should make no dif. ?? Always a thought in the back of my mind, drive it to the show and show it! thanks again. Eric okiemark Apr 23rd, 08, 01:55 PM I don't know from a quality stand point, but anytime you can add stainless steel tubing or hoses it dresses it up some. I have an original 396 but was glad it came with some shiney stuff! Eric Kammerer Apr 23rd, 08, 02:52 PM I guess it would depend on the type of show. Cyclopsracer Apr 23rd, 08, 06:37 PM Stainless is harder and lasts longer. Also harder to "seat the lines" |
