:beers:I went to start the car today and the whole system was dead. Electrical problem turned out to be at the horn relay. It made a buzzing sound (for the first time) when I tried to start the car, so I zeroed in on it right away. I had the wires off a few months ago while trying to get the horn to work and put them back with two of the terminals slightly touching. So, today I unscrewed both terminals and cleaned them with sand paper as well as the contacts they screw to and made sure that no wires were touching. Car starts every time now! Thanks to all who gave input. One last question. If the horn relay stops working all together... goes dead... will the car not start?? Again thanks!

:hurray:A pit crew like you guys is worth every bit of $19.95. I Joined today!! Great site!!

The two rerd wires on the horn relay buss bar is a junction point for the wire from the battery and power wire to the firewall connector.

You can put both wires together on the same screw and alleviate the corrosion problem of the buss bar. Same electrical point.

Congrats on finding the problem using all the senses.

Technically if the horn relay fails, the only thing that will happen is the horns and keybuzzer will stop working. The horn relay's other duty is as a junction block.

Whenever I shine up old connections, especially high current connections, I like to dope them up with dielectric grease. You can buy it in a tube at your local auto parts store for cheap. It will coat the new metal you exposed to keep oxygen and water away.
