Building a 69 with Hotchkis TVS 2" front and 1.5" rear drop. 11" front and rear disc. Want to go with the Junk Yard Dog Old Schools, prefer 18".

? is what backspacing and will 235/40-18's work for the front and will 275/35-18's fit on the rear with factory wheel housings. I want the tires tucked with no rubbing. Also should I go 18x7 in the front or would 18x8 work on all 4 corners?

Thanks for the help!

The wheels I was looking at have a 4" backspacing.....would that work?

with an 18x8 in the front you will want a 4 1/2" backspace and with the 275 in the back you would probably be better off with a 9" or 9 1/2" rim.

I would go 18x8 fronts with 5.0" backspacing and 245 wide tires, 18x9 rears with 5.5" backspacing and 275 wide tires.

JYD wheels aren't available in 1/2-inch increment widths. The 10" rears will fit with a 5.5" bs, but since you want things tucked and no-hassle I'd stick with 9" rears.

The most used 17" wheel on a '69 is 8" with 4.74 bs in the front and 9.5" with 5.5 bs in the rear. These wheels will fit 235/45 or 245/45's in front and 255/45 or 275/40's in the back.

I'm sure the wheel width and back spacing on the 18's should be real close to that of the 17's. Check on overall tire sizes and try to match height and section width of the 17's and you should be good to go.

Keep in mind fitting that much tire means new tight suspension and subframe bushings and good quality shocks and subframe connectors...

Yeah what they both told you. I would stay away from the 10" wide wheel in the back because there is almost always fitment issues (rubbing on the inside or fender lip or both).
What DJD mentioned in closing is VERY important. These cars are ALL different so you need to check both sides and make sure the suspension is in great shape if not new.

Thanks guys. I changed my mind completely and ordered the Timeless 2's 17x8 in front and 17x9.5 in rear. BS of 4.75 and 5.5

Thanks for all the help. Figured that would be safe after measuring and wanting to go with the 235 and 275 tires.

This has Hotchkis 2" drop springs in the front with stock disk brakes. Tires 245/40/18 and rims are 18x7 with 4" back space.

Rear has Hotchkis 1.5 Lowering leafs with stock 12 Bolt and drum brakes. Tires 285/40/18 and rims are 18x9.5 with 5.5 back space. Next tire will be a 275/40/18 for more clearance. If your running disk brakes in the rear then double check the back space.
