Used paint stripper to strip gas tank of undercoating and overspray. Worked great! Going to wire wheel and scotchbrite it tomorrow. What do I use to paint it so I don't have to do this again? Thanks Pete

I put POR15 Glisten PC clear coat on. Many paint them black, using various products, but I decided to go with the original finish. It's their non-yellowing stuff good also for chrome and wheels.

That's what I'm going to do also Rick. I like the look of the bare metal. And ya can't beat POR15 products!

Wow, after getting the tank done last night, I decided to see how well a heat gun would work on the undercoating of the body.
WOW!! I just bought the gun yesterday and wished like hell I had bought it BEFORE I did the tank.
I set that bad boy at 1000 degrees and literally within seconds the 30 year old undercoating peeled off with a scraper like it was paper!! http://www.camaros.net/forum/biggrin.gif
No more Strip-Eeze or messy chemicals for me! I was amazed how effortless using a heatgun was. It took me 4 hours to strip the entire underbody, which I had planned on taking a week with chemicals!
Just wanted to share my excitement. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif Now what do I do all weekend?
