View Full Version : Por 15 then bedliner 69mustang Apr 25th, 08, 02:31 PM Has anyone tried this before. I want the rust protection of por 15 and also the stone resistance and deadening from the bed liner. just wondering if this has been done before and the results. thanks John510 Apr 25th, 08, 02:43 PM Why not just epoxy and bedliner? Unless your floor is rusty theres no need to really use the POR. gonewacky Apr 25th, 08, 06:09 PM I tried it on the underside of my 93 GM Sonoma about 6 years ago,, it did not last thru the winter, we have rain, sleet, snow, ice, and salt on the roads thru the winters here... it could be that I did not prep it right also.,I just grinded and hand sanded it... I don't know.. I let the por-15 dry till it was tacky and sprayed the truck bed liner over it.... I recently sand blasted down to bare, and what looked like rust free metal, some rusty sheet metal fenders, and used POR-15's metal-Ready acid to etch the metal, BUT,, I did not wash it with water, instead I used acetone to wipe the dust off,, I applied a thin coat of POR-15 on it after the metal dried.. came back to it later, about a month to 6 weeks, and decided to sand the POR-15 of and just primer it, because it is an exterior panel to be painted.. when I started sanding the POR-15 off there was Rust forming in the pitted metal under the por-15,!!!!!!!!!..... WTH is that all about.??.. Pro-Street69Camaro468 Apr 25th, 08, 07:43 PM I don't think these products would be compatible I would do your research first on this one. I did mine I did an etching primer and the sprayed the bed liner right over the primer on the same day I let it dry long enough for the solvents to reliece.... |
