I have a 69 Camaro SS with a TH 400 tranny/350
Ive had no problems until today

I started up the car and tried to gp around the block it feels as if the tranny is stuck in 1st gear-its very low and i cant get the car to go very fast.


What is the problem?

Your vacuum modulator vacuum line probable came disconnected or the hose fell/ rotted off.

Is the vaccuum hose located next to the distributer?

It probably comes off the intake manifold behind the carb.

If the vacumn line is good pull the governor out and check for a stripped gear. There is a 4 bolt cover on the rear passenger side of trans that houses the trans governor. If the plastic gear is broken or stripped the trans wont shift. Wes
