View Full Version : Subframe connectors for a 67 vert???
blackl78 Apr 27th, 08, 07:34 AM I saw somewhere some really nice subframe connectors for a 67 convertible ( well actually any first gen vert) that tucked up nicely under the car and no floor cutting was involved. I think they were tubular?? and were shaped around the rear floor pan?? I want some for my car and cant remember where I saw these. Anybody seen them??

69TAPoser Apr 27th, 08, 07:56 AM If they were tubular, they may be Global West. They bolt in the front, but weld in the rear. I have them on my car:

Thanks Jim! These are the ones I had seen and was interested in finding. I didn't realize they had to be welded in though. What do you think of them as compared to Phil's above? Would you use them again? Thanks again for the pics and link!
guccieng Apr 27th, 08, 12:51 PM i love my gw sub-connectors. will get them for the 'bird, too. you can see them if you're looking, though.

They work, that's for sure. I used to say "my car is strong, it don't need no SFC's! Then one day I put her on stands on the sub, at the firewall. Her ends drooped so bad I couldn't open either door!
Then I found a kinda rusty floor pan, too.
With the floor fixed and the SFC's welded in, she is VERY solid. She feels better on bumpy roads, and she stays straight and square no matter how wierd I jack her up.
You can bolt those in, easily in front, less so in the back.
I kinda feel bolting the front defeats the purpose, but have no experience to back that up.
JimM Apr 27th, 08, 01:19 PM Phil's car is not a vert, you can see the floor bracing isn't there.
I don't know if the g/w SFC's will clear that H brace.

I agree with Jim, unless you did some cutting those G/W sfc's wouldn't fit, not sure if they make a convertible configuration.
Hotchkis convertible sfc's (P/N 4008) can be had for less than $330 shipped if you shop around.
sleepsinshed Apr 27th, 08, 04:50 PM Hotchkis is the way to go. I just put some on and can't say enough about the difference they make. I think they are the only ones making a sf connector for convertibles that doesn't require cutting up the floor. The only thing I removed to put them on was the parking brake cable.

Well, Hotchkis it is then. I DO NOT want to cut anything for sure! I didnt want to weld either, but that can be reversed easier.
Hey Jim, did you say you welded the front also? I thought only the rear needed welded?
Thanks guys!
Mud Rat Apr 27th, 08, 10:24 PM those look great did you also get the x brace that goes in between the sfc?
