dont be scared...we can get you thru it...first, have the wife shift the car while you look at the detent point, to see if its moving at the trans...we`ll go from there later...

ok i dont see any movement when wife shifts the car in any gear. cable broke inside housing ? would that cause it to be stuck in drive even after i manually shift the lever on the side of the trans case? because thats what im seeing .I manually shift at trans hit key and its in drive (no nuetral safety switch)

the lever on the outside of the trans is connected to the valve body via a rod if not mistaken...if you shifted the trans into park, and are still in drive, you`ll have to drop the pan and inspect the internal linkage...i`m pretty sure you should have park even if that rod pops off the valve body cuz the park pawl works off the lever itself, but not positive(the pawl in this case would lock the trans in park, while the drans is in drive, and trying to move forward...do not try to revv it up if this is the case)...be sure the trans is actually in park,though...pull it all the way to one end, and start the car...then all the way to the other end and start the car...could be that you pulled the lever into low1...the lever should turn clockwise into park...so if the lever hangs down, push it forward to the front of the car as far as it will go...reverse valve body could be different...
