Hello All,
I have seen some cars originally equipped with 6 cyl's for sale as COPO tributes. Thankfully the seller states it is a COPO Tribute and most Camaro enthusiasts know 12337 = 6 cyl on the VIN plate.
I have a question for my own knowledge when it comes to 12 bolts. If a 6 cyl car is being made into a COPO Tribute and this 6 cyl car was produced 01D, 02A or 02B of 1969 would a rear end dated January 13, 1969 be correct? or is January 13, 1969 too early?
I had a May 20, 1968 12 bolt in my Camaro when I bought it. But I think May 20, 1968 would be too early for any 01D, 02A, 02B Camaro. Even January 12 or 13th 1969 may be a bit too early for an 01D, 02A or 02B car.
P.S.----Just in case the thought crossed anyone's mind. I am not some scammer or con artist. I hate scammers. FWIW Both the 1969's I have owned were/are 12437 VIN car's. That means they were V8's....One of the cars was an early Norwood car with No X-code produced 10D. I'm just wondering what would be correct for a rear end date based on the trim tag date for an 01D/02A/or 02B 1969 Camaro regardless of X code or not, 6 cyl or 8 cyl.....FWIW the rear ends did not have the VIN stamped into them, so how is the average buyer supposed to tell what rear end date would be correct for a 6 cyl car which is now a COPO tribute car based on a late January 1969/early February 1969 production date on the trim tag for either a Van Nuys/LA car or an X-code Norwood car.
