So please let me know if you have any suggestions cause I am not sure what to do here. I have a new chevy crate engine which what looks like older manifolds on it. The manifolds are pretty fat and come VERY close to the steering box. I am worried that the heat from the manifolds can cause the steering box to crack and need to get it switched out. (the steering box doesnt look stock either)
First, I didnt install the engine or the manifolds as it was like this when I bought it. I received a set of stock nova/camaro v8 manifolds from a friend but they had a latch in it that would not have been compatible with my car (from what Midas tells me). They tell me I need to go to a custom exhaust.
I am sure that this isn't the first time a crate engine was put into a 68 nor will it be the last. I would also think that every crate engine doesnt need a custom exhaust. Has anyone had this problem? Should I change the steering box or get a custom exhaust? Do they make smaller steering boxes?
anyone know any good classic car mechanics in the hollywood, ca area.
Thank you!
