I bought a 67 R/S last year. I'm now in the process of trying to figure out if this is the right motor for the car . I'm assuming it's not . I'm trying to get more horsepower for the car. If you found out it's not the correct engine for the car would you 1 ) Try and build this engine up ( 327/275) I am told I can get it close to 375-400 hp ---2) Buy a crate engine and drop it in ? It's going to be around 3K to build the engine up and anywhere from 5-7K to buy a crate engine. What have people's experience's taught them ? Also, I am not handy with tools or knowledgeable in motors so I am paying to have work done ..even though it's alittle cheaper since my uncle will do it.

If - it's a 'numbers' block and you want additional performance you may want to find another block to work with.
If - it's not a numbers block, but a good GM casting to base a build off of, I would go from there.
If - it's a poor choice as a performance build base, then I would look for a better starting point block or consider a 'crate-motor' ...
