Just got the last coat of clear on at around 3:00 pm. I used DuPont ChromaClear with a mid-temp activator, and laid it on pretty thick. Actually laid it on so thick, it ran in several places. How long should I wait before wet sanding the fender? I was thinking like 3 days, but I am no expert. Also what is the best way to take drips out, I read other posts and they said use a razor blade? Is this a good method? And what grit sand paper should I use to wet sand the car? Is there any special method to wetsanding without burning through the clear? Is it really easy to sand through the clear?
Thank you for all the help,
Kyle

One should return to the Automotive paint store and purchase a paint file, a 1 X 1 wood block with a file cemented to it.

Use the file to smooth out the drip. Then I would use 2500 grit wet sandpaper with dish soap and warm water and a hard sanding block.

Usually, 24-48 hours is good for drying. Hope there's alot of elbow grease....Good Luck!!!

They sell what is called a run razor. You turn down the little screw on top and it curves the blade for a select cut. Wait until the paint sets up for a day or two. Dial it in for small shaving so you don't over do it. I wait for 2 days before wetsanding. In really warm weather you can start the next day provided you don't bare down to hard while sanding.
Start out with 1200 wet and finish with 1500-2000. Then buff with a foam pad and 3m perfect it III.

I've got both the nib files & run razor... holding a simple razor blade vertically and scratching the run off has worked the best for me.

You should try in inconspicuous places (or just paint clear w/runs on a test panel) to see what technique works best for you.

hey meguiers makes a 1 inch by 3 inch block that you can get in 1000, 1200, 1500 grit, they work great on sags and runs, as it is square in shape so you sand it flat when you do, but if you have a long line of runs you might be better off scuffing the runs out, base the area if you go thru the base and clear the panel sometimes bigger runs have little air bubbles in them and you can never get these all the way out, but i would try the razor block and get one of these meguiers blocks in 1200 then 1500 by hand and buff with some 3m perfect it, but again if you haven't un taped that car it might be quicker for you to sand runs out and re clear panel then you would know if would look good, where as you work 3 hrs on t he run and it still looks ugly and you can't seem to get it out, i have been there before and it is sometimed better just to re clear panel, but goodluck, remeber when applying clear, give it time!!!! if you think 20 mins is enough between coats give it 35, it will hang on alot better when you try to lay on a nice wet coat, goodluck
