I bought my daughter a 93 Z28 with an LT1 motor/6 speed tranny in 2000. I really thought this could be a good collector car, especially since there had always been talk of discontinuing Camaros and it was a pretty nice hotrod. She just called and said she can't afford it any longer (cooling problems, clutch, etc.) and wants me to take it back. I look at the prices and I'm shocked at how cheap they are! What happened? I haven't been into cars in years (the 60s), but Camaros have always been pretty sought after. What's the feeling out there on their future "collectability?" I've been thinking of taking it back and fixing it back up, but if there's no future, I'll probably suggest she take the hit and trade it in. Thoughts?

first off, welcome to the team! i think every car is going to hit its lowest value around the 15 year old mark, like that '93. it might just stay there until its 25 year old mark... it's an lt-1, and i think most would prefer the ls-1 at this point. the 6-speed is a great option, imho. that was the first year of the 4th gen, and typically still had the 'bugs' to be worked out. unless you're in love with that car, i'd say get what you can now. jm$.02.

Try and find a mint 81 Z/28 for less than 10 grand! My point is that if guys are willing to pay 10K for a nice 81 Z, they will eventually pay a lot for your daughters car. Problem is, you will have to wait a decade or so.

The 93's are the stepchild of the fourth gens. Like already mentioned they were working out the bugs. Still, they make great DD cars and still have much potential for performance. Right now you can get them almost a dime a dozen but I have seen them priced around 8 grand for a well cared for and slightly modded one. I currently own a 94 Z and I've seen these priced as much as 10-12 g's! Of course those were very well cared for or modded by professionals. Remember when the GTO's, Mustangs and Camaros were stuck in car lots back in the 70's and they couldn't be given away?? Now those same cars are worth $$$$$$$$$$$ fully restored. Have you ever seen an old car YOU used to drive back in the day and regret getting rid of it??

I am too old to even consider waiting for My 96SS to become a valued collector Car LOL
