I agree IMO. I like the sleeper look.

Im with Don....Sleeper look.....always fun to pull up the front tires from a stop with a "stock" looking car....gets everyones attention!

No i am kidding really, i just like the attention and you dont see many street cars driving around with a hood like this. Next comes paint. Unless i can think of something better i am gonna paint the car black. Maybe with some of the flames, true fire style on the front.

The hood is not bad but, doesn't fit the look/style of your car. That hood would look much better if your car was low and didn't have the rear tires sticking out. The hood is modern and the stance of your car is early to mid 70's. A square scoop would fit the look of your car better. Better yet get the stance right (correct the back spacing and sit the car down over the tires) and that hood will look good. You just have to have the power to back up the "look". Just my opinion since you were asking, I usually keep my mouth shut.

Oh and the vinyl top doesn't go with the scoop either.

When I had my 69 coupe with the square snorkle scoop about everybody that thought they had a fast car and ones that didnt were always wanting to race. It more or less says I want to race everyone. Thats was what I got from it.:)

I just had a sleeper way back when....before I needed Grecien formula and Viagra.... used to pull the front tires up off the ground, caught a bunch of attention....even from the local cops, which was costly even then LOL:beers:

The rear end will come later, right after the cash shows up lol, for right now the tires/wheels i got will have to do.

I dont think i will be out in the rain. No wipers. Cops are not anything to worry about unless you are doing something stupid. They can look at me all they want, they can even pull me over i dont care cause i dont street race and i have insurance ect.

Will it pass a "through the windshield" visual test?

I think you have to have such and such unobstructed view height-wise if not mistaken so you can get a 100 percent view of what's in front of you while driving is all.

I wouldn't really worry to much about the cop thing. I drove around with an 8-71 blower sticking out of the hood and never once got hassled. As long as you don't get a reputation, they will leave you alone.

I agree with Royce. I have been driving around with a blower sticking out the hood for 3 years with no problems. I do have my wife riding shotgun watching out for the passenger side since I cant see to much on that side. She just yells at me all the time when I get close to something. LOL

Them rear tire sticking out take me back to the early 70's when we would jack up the rear with air shocks and shackles, have the tires sticking way out and go bouncing down the road, sure was fun. Lot of good memories.

As long as it has a leaky exhaust with one tailpipe dangling as in no hangar, it would be good to go!

I think the Mullet is a better fit for a guy that wears red, white, and blue bell bottoms and drives an AMC (of any type) with glitter paint.

It's not so much a Camaro thing -- although I did like the video :D

Since this started as a discussion about scoops and things stickin through the hoods of cars, check out (if you haven't already) the '69 on BelairBob's public profile. I don't think I ever saw anything so purdy sticking through the hood of a Camaro. That is one sweeeeeet ride...

Well since i like the hood ( and i accidentally threw a hammer and stuck the claw end through my other hood) i am gonna keep it on for now, at least if i can figure out how to mount the dzus fasteners on so that the hood locks down straight (Any tips?).

I will post some more pics after the car gets painted. Maybe with some new skin it wont look so old school :)

The hood is not "old school" it just doesn't match the style of your car (IMO). Once it's painted and you get the back end of your car down and the tires tucked it, the hood will look much better. You don't need to buy a new rear end you just need to get the correct backspacing and width on your wheels. About mounting the hood, line it up where you want it and mark the center of each fastener, once that's done you just have to measure how far away from the fenders, cowl, etc.. the center of the fastener is. Now you know where you have to mount the other half of the dzus. You may have to modify the bottom half of the fastener to get them where you want them.

That is not "Pro Street". Pro Street cars are tubbed and sit down over the tires, most have roll cages, some have wings, wheelis bars, parachutes, etc... The idea of Pro Street was for the car to look like the "Race Cars" you see/saw at the track but, be street driveable.

Pro Street in my opinion is any car that is built with racing in mind but still has the equipment to drive on the street. I would consider my car pro street. Why not? I dont think there are any rules governing the width of a tire to be in a pro street class is there?
As far as my back-spacing goes I cannot get the tire "in" any further with going to a narrowed rear axle. The tires are almost 12" wide and if they were in more they would rub on the leaf springs.
