I am doing some thinking about a little more engine for my Camaro. The bodywork is the big thing right now but a better engine is soon to follow. It is a 68 Camaro, 010 block, .030 bore, flat tops, stock bottom, Elgin solid flat tappet, WP S/R Torquer, 670 Avenger, no idea on power output. What my plans are include: roller block 350, bored .030, better heads, stronger forged bottom, forged pistons, etc. One question I have is the booster. The belt driven seem like they take up a lot less room and are easier to install. Are they anywhere near as good as the exhaust driven? I have a cowl induction hood already but I don't want a blower sticking up through it. What sort of compression ratio should I be looking at? The elevation here is just shy of 4000 ASL. It will be mostly street and highway since there is not a track within 130 miles of here. The drive train currently is a 4 speed but will be a TKO 600 with a 3.73 posi rear. I realize that this is a wide-open question but I need all of the information I can get so I can start ordering parts in the future. Is there a web site that has proven recipes for building something of this nature? I already know I will get good information here so I am going to pre-thank you now.

You didn't really give enough info (how much power are you looing to make). So in general, the supercharger will be cheaper and easier to install. You can buy a "kit" that has everything you need for the install. Turbos can make more power but, are harder to package, install, and in general will cost more in the end.
If you are looking for insane power levels then a turbo or two would be the way to go. If your goals are 1200HP or less then you can get there with a supercharger.
Your best bet would be to give Pro Charger a call and have your goals and facts in order. They will be able to set you up with a complete kit. There are many different sizes of supercharger and depending on your goals and budget they will know what to recommend.

There is a lot of good info here, http://www.turbomustangs.com/smf/
Also here, http://www.yellowbullet.com/forum/index.php
My combo fits under a stock cowl hood, if around 750 HP is enough, we can talk about mine.

750 hp would be way more than enough! I know I didn't give much information but the idea has just started to materialize. I looked at the Vortech belt drive too. Thanks for the sites. They should be able to give me plenty of ideas on what I want and how to get it.

I just spent a lot of time checking out a million posts on these suggested sites! I am still not finished! At one point, someone said the 010 block is an excellent block for what I am planning. There was also a post saying that the cast crank and pistons would be good to 800 hp. Since my current block is the 010 and has the WP S/R Torquer heads it sounds like I already have a good starting point. The cam definitely needs replaced since it has way too much overlap. Plus, I have KB hyper pistons with a compression ratio of right at 10-1. I am learning quite a bit but have a couple of questions. I will need to reduce compression so would cast pistons still be okay for 700 hp? Will the cast crank really handle that much power? Would the F1 system be a decent system that would get me in the 700 hp range? Hopefully Frank from Prodigy Customs will jump in here since it sounds like he sells these systems and I could use some advise on this. Now I need to read more about the special fuel systems, wastegates, etc. Thanks for those sites.
