I have a 67 with 5 leaf springs that were arched to give 2" more in height so I could fit some 275 drag radials. I now have gone back to a smaller tire 255/60/15 and want to lower the car back down 2" and then I can also remove the 2" shock extenders. The choices I'm considering are de arching or removing a leaf or two. I'm leaning more towards removing a leaf or 2 because the 5 leafs are a little harsh of a bumpy ride.

Anybody out there with some experience with these options would be greatly appreciated.

There should be several postings about how to remove a couple springs from a 5 leaf setup, just search on leaf spring topics.

I have read alot of the other posts on this subject, I think that I just would like to know what to expect. If one leaf is removed how much lower aprox. will the car sit and how dramatic will the ride change and the same for if 2 leafs were removed?

Install 2" lowering blocks. These fit between the spring and axle.

I was leary of the lowering blocks beccause it would place to much ofthe spring outside the perch when using a lowering block and a polyurethne squeek pad. Would need some type of spacers made up, kind like DSE uses on their mono 2 multi kit perhaps.

Supposedly you can get 2-3 inches of drop in the rear can be aquired by simply removing the middle leaf from the leaf pack. This is done by spreading out the clamps and removing the center bolt and sliding the leaf out. This is the cheapest way to lower the rear 2-3 inches.

I've read that 2" blocks are not that safe or good for handling also it won't solve the chuck wagon type ride that the 5 leaf springs are providing. So I am still looking towards leaf removal.
