I just bought a '68 SS with a freshly rebuilt '69 350 bored .30 over. They guy said the engine is making around 375HP, what are some minor things I can do to the engine to get it over 400HP?

You'll need to provide a lot more info on the existing engine. Headers, the right intake manifold/carb and a cam are the some of the basic's along with proper tuning. If it really is making 375 hp I would put your efforts and money into tuning, rear gears, a converter (if automatic trans) and dialing in your suspension. Too many cars out there tout 400+ hp, and perform like they have 300hp.

50hp Nitrous kit... :D (hey you said minor/easy right?)

Besides, with that small of a jet in the kit a bottle would last along time!

Bowl blend and dingle-berry casting flash clean up the ports in the heads if they are stock.

That and install .015" thick or .020" shim headgaskets to hold quench close!

roller rockers are supposed to be worth 10-15 hp.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to look at the car for the first time tonight so I'll get more info on the engine. I'm pretty sure the rest of the car is stock. Whats the best converter? and what are the best gears for just quick off the line around town cruising (3.73)? Another quick question, whats the best MSD? And will that help if it doesn't have one?

Thanks for all the help, I'll get the hang of it all before too long.
