I think you would have better results searching for one on the 'net or better yet check out some of the restoration websites for your wheel (my 2 cents). I got my steering wheel and all related components from Classic Industries. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff229/1969ProStreetCamaro/MVC-024F.jpg bruce69camaro May 21st, 08, 04:07 AM If it matters I am using a steering wheel off of a Vega on my 69 Camaro. I then bought the horn emblem for a second gen Camaro and it fit right in. I got this wheel because of the small diameter. I fit right on without any type of adapter. Bruce SS69Cam May 21st, 08, 11:28 AM Thanks Bruce. That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. What wheels just go right on there! Eric Kammerer May 21st, 08, 12:23 PM There are a lot of threads with pics on this, like this one: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=118212&highlight=steering+wheel+fit Like Bruce said, it is really common to see the four spoke 70s style GM wheel on 1st gens, like this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/77-78-79-80-81-CAMARO-STEERING-WHEEL-BLACK_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33704QQihZ021QQit emZ310050732547QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW and this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevy-SS-Camaro-Chevell-Nova-Steering-Wheel-73-thru-82_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ140729QQihZ016QQitem Z260239776797QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW SS69Cam May 21st, 08, 12:47 PM More excellent info! Thanks Eric! Keep it coming!!! yellow69RS May 21st, 08, 02:46 PM I had a 78-79 Trans Am wheel on my 62 Nova and have one of those 4 spoke ones on my 69 Camaro. As far as I know any thing fits if it's GM. Jeff Stewie May 21st, 08, 03:55 PM I would look for a comfort grip wheel. It was stock on many Gm models including, Camaro, Nova, even the Monza had them. You can get all the parts from the aftermarket, and they look almost the same as the wood wheel. I had one stock on my 69 Camaro and believe it or not the steering wheel was featured in Hoopers book on the 69 Camaro from A to Z. In fact classic industies has the wheel kit including all the screws, horn button, hub and horn ring for 259. I picked one up about 10 years ago for 100 bucks including hub, and it worked really well. They actually used to come in several colors but most now are black. This one is even cheaper. You can't go wrong. I have seen originals now going for 400 dollars. http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=camaro6769&Product_Code=IXS-69T Fred Ficarra May 22nd, 08, 11:44 AM I went with the aftermarket. My son is using the original wheel. This is a Lecarra and about the same diameter as a mid 70's Nova wheel. It really speeds-up the steering. Of course so does the later TransAm box. http://epitomesrebuild.com/images/139.jpg |
