Hopefully I will have my newly painted '67 back from the bodyshop sometime around late summer and I'm making sure I have the interior components lined up. The only part that I don't have and I'm not sure about is the sheetmetal wiring cover that mounts over the inside lip of the inner rocker (near the door sill). I have actually never seen one of these on any of the Camaros that I have owned ('67 & '68)... I have only seen pictures. The car I'm working on is in no way an original numbers matching car so I am willing to fab something if I have to. What have you guys done in this area? Fabbed a cover? Add extra padding? Is this part easily fabbed or is it a complex molded part? If someone has one that they can provide a few pictures of (both installed and out of the car), I may be able to fab something from the pics. If that is the route that I end up taking then I would be willing to make a dimensioned drawing based on what I come up with for future reference and post it. (BTW, I did a quick search for this part on this forum but I'm not quite sure of it's proper title or what everyone is calling it... so sorry if this has been discussed in great length... someone please point me in a direction and I'll take it from there.)

I am 99% sure these photos are coupe gutter covers; coupes and verts are different.

Sorry Eric, those are convert covers :) coupes have a center section that is wider than the ends. If the covers are the same width through the middle, then they are converts.

Gutter covers.... would've never guessed that... or carpet stiffeners. Thanks for the pics. That will get me started. It looks like they are slightly formed transitioning from a more "break-formed" section in the aft end to a slight "rolled" section at the front. The pics of the installed parts in the other thread will help me quite a bit. They look to tuck up under the sill plate and screw directly to the interior rockers. I'll break out the cardboard and see what I can come up with. I guess not "everything" is being offered in the aftermarket (but most everything).

Bill, these are coupe covers and reasonable too! Notice the wider center section http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Car-Truck-Parts-Accessories__67-69-Camaro-wire-gutter-covers-original-4-galvanized_W0QQitemZ230252799521QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q 20AccessoriesQQadnZCarQ20Q26Q20TruckQ20PartsQ20Q26 Q20AccessoriesQQddiZ2811QQadiZ2865QQcmdZViewItem?h ash=item230252799521&

Thanks for catching that Kevin... I have no idea why I have pics of vert covers on this computer. My really organized files are on the computer in the basement, and much as I love y'all, it is way too much trouble to thump down to the basement to answer a Camaro question :);)

Bill, if you're not in a super-hurry, a set of these show up on eBay every couple of weeks. They typically don't command a very high price either.

Check out the link below. It should lead you to The Paddock wire loom shields.

Great info guys . I'll have to keep an eye out on Ebay for these since I have some time before I really need them. I can always purchase the ones that Roger suggested that are available at the Paddock if I get pinched for time or strikeout on Ebay. I guess the difficult part has been finding a effective search phrase. So far I have gutter cover, carpet stiffeners, and wire loom shield. I hate to spend a 1/2 day fabbing a set when I can possibly snag a set on Ebay for under $50... but if I have to pay for the repro ones then I may change my mind. Since my car didn't have them when I bought my car I didn't really notice if it made a difference on the carpet fit in this area. Anyone have an opinion on the fit of the carpet "without" these parts being installed? It seems to me that you would end up with a lump where the up-standing flange between the inner & outer rockers is welded together if this piece wasn't installed. I am also planning on running the ProCar Rally seats and, if I understand some of the other posts on these seats correctly, the slider knob is real close to the inner rocker so anything I install in this area will need to hug the rocker or have a very low profile. I'm probably overthinking this.... a little paralysis by analysis. Anywho... thanks for all the info.

Bill, I've got mine laying in the garage now if you want better pics, or measurements, or measurement w/ pics, etc.... Just speak up and I can get them for you, no problem.

Mine's a 68, but I think they are the same. Funny story, I pulled the carpet out of mine last fall and when I pulled the sill off and the carpet and saw those thin, little pieces screwed to the floor, I was thinking that a previous owner really half-a$$ pieced something in there. After looking them over though, and seeing the detail, I did some searching and saw they were an original piece.

Thanks for the offer Jon but I think I can fab what I need from the pics. I may ask for some more info once I get into the job but i think I have a good idea on how to go from here. It really doesn't matter if they look like the originals as long as they do the job. I relocated my battery to the trunk so on the passenger's side I will have a battery cable to conceal. That was one of my main concerns... a big lump in the carpet. Until a few months ago I had never seen this part and I bought my first Camaro in 1986 (but it was a heap that had a lot of part missing). Also, I forgot that I will have to modify them if I purchase a set (repro or original) because of my DSE rollbar. Now that I understand how they fit, fabbing a set should not be that big of deal and may be easier than modifying a repro set since I can align the split between the front and aft piece where I need them.

I'm just weird. I think of things like; Why did GM make these out of galvanized steel, and NOT the body?? Most of us would have saved thousands of dollars and years of work!
Yep, original.
