Does your 76 look like this: http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:bFQzMNQjLkUJ:www.jtruck.net/misc/4x4cars/full/76camaro.jpg LOL

or like one of these:

RPO Z85 Rally Sport Package - 1976 Z85 Rally Sport Package - Includes low-gloss black treatment of hood, header panel, grill, headlamp bezels, top of fenders, front part of roof, upper portion of doors, rear end panel and license plate opening. Tri-color decal separates black paint from body color. Tri-color rally sport decals on fenders and deck lid. Not available w/vinyl roof.

or

RPO 1FS87 Camaro Type LT Coupe, 8-cylinder - 1976 Type LT - LT interior type depended upon whether seats were vinyl or cloth. The seats were a new design with different sew lines and squared off headrests. Door panels came in two styles with tack on arm rests combined with pull handles, plain panel faces for interiors with cloth seats, and pleated faces for interiors with vinyl seats. Tan simulated leather applique on instrument panel. Urethane/steel wheel replaced polycast turbine type wheel. Amberlite insulation blankets included in doors, rear quarters, roof/sail panels, behind rear seat, under package tray and under carpeting.

The 1976 Camaro RS (Rally Sport) model-option package could also be ordered for the Camaro Type LT (Luxury Touring). This combination added the special contents of the Rally Sport package to the special contents of the Type LT equipment list, as described below. Since the Type LT model already included shared features such as Rally Wheels, the Rally Sport package cost a little less when added to a Type LT.

Assuming you've got the factory original steering wheel, if it's an LT, it'll have LT on the horn button. The LT's also have LT badges on the roof pillars between the door glass and back window. I've got a '76 LT and can post a pic of the horn button and badges, if needed, but it's pretty obvious.

thanks everyone...but the previous owner told me it was a r/s...but the paint scheme was originally silver.....and the interior was white vinyl and black door panels and the emblem on the steering wheel is the bowtie and the tri color (red white and blue ) lines...
