Hi, Well I finally got everything up and running from swapping my old manual 4 1/2 turn lock to lock worn out piece of crap steering box for the 87 IROC Z-28 quick ratio 2 1/2 turn power steering box. Going from manual to power was a lot of work, because of the need for hoses, pump, etc, so I can't say it was easy.
I used a Cardone box, 69 Camaro hoses, 69 Camaro pump, Z-28 deep groove pulley, and the Lee inserts. The easiest part was the Lee inserts. I was kind of skeptical as to whether or not they would work, but they were so easy, I was amazed. No leaks, no problems.
Although the effort to turn the wheel is not a bit easier than I had thought it would be, the difference is fantastic. Now I really realize how much I hated the manual box. Would NEVER go back to manual.
Anyway, anyone on the fence as to whether or not to change, my vote is to stop thinking about it and go for it. You won't be sorry.
