i have new drums and pads on the camaro and when put it in drive its rubbs a good amount. when i jack the car up and take the wheels off it rubs to the point it barely spins by hand. i take the drums off and the axles spin easily. i've adjusted(all the way in) the "adjuster" thats at the bottom of the brakes and it hasnt helped. the drums arent grinding against anything except for the brake pads. what should i do to fix this? i was thinking of shaving the pads or getting the drums turned, but figured i should ask here first.

The only thing I can think of is that the emergency brakes are partially engaged.....The cables aren't frozen, are they?

OK, I noticed you stated that you have new brake drums, so having them cut slightly should fix it.

I second the E brake. Check to make sure the shoes are touching the pin at the top. If not take out the strut for the E brake and recheck it.

Mine too. I did say in "Bench Racing" that the rest of the job was mine right? Well, I figured I'd pull the drums off and take a quick look while the car is in the air (gotta do the brake lines on the axle) and now I can't get the drum back on. I know I need to do the brakes but just looking at it, I don't really want to tackle that now. I have gone just shy of using a sledge hammer on it. Help?? That drum has to go back on to move the car back into the garage...

Find a brake shop for the lost art of arc grinding the shoe diameter to match the drum diameter. This will solve the problem, if the E-brake isn't on and the adjuster is all the way in, plus one turn out.

id just use the jack to move the car into the garage util you figure out whats wrong with the brakes.
