Hi all,

Im new, Hope im in the right section here!

I have a 67 RSSS stock front end w/Discs. I want to lower it a good 2"+ what would be best? 2" drop spindles or just 2" lowered springs? im planning on having it sit on 17 - 18" rims at a nice stance sitting just on or above the tyre wall. the rear would be lowered accordingly.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dan.

If you do a search or look in the suspension section you can read why you don't want to go with drop spindles. Use springs or coilovers to drop the front. Here is a pic of mine dropped with QA-1 coilovers:

It's a 68. The side markers are shaved. The side markers just don't look right, too small or something. Anyway got rid of them.

Yea I noticed your signature said "68" after I had posted, I betcha allot of people mistake it for a 67 cuz of the shaved side markers huh? Either way your car is niiiiiiice~

Here is a picture of mine with 19's, Speed Tech upper and lower control arms and QA1 coilovers as well. In the front I am actually 3" lower than my stock SPRINGS and 235/60/15's, about an inch too low actually. I have raised it up since the photo but have not put it back on the ground for final ride height analysis. That is the beauty of the adjustable coilovers. I still need to lower the rear too. Anyway, as others have said I have heard to stay away from the drop spindles. Good Luck!

The wheels are Intro V-Rod, the gentleman at Intro made all of the suggestions for sizing and fitment. Here are the details.

Front 19's 235/35ZR 19 with 5" of back spacing

Rear 20's 255/35ZR 20 with 4.5" of back spacing

As for QA1 how far can you adjust them? Whats the maximum you can drop/raise? Im coming up to this part of resto want as much info as i can to make right decision first time round. So far drop spindles are out.

Thanks for all input.

QA-1: I believe the max drop is 1 1/2 to 2 inches, however, at max drop you get a very stiff ride and it is not the best for ride/handling characteristics. The best guy to talk to on suspension options and set ups is Frank from Prodigy Customs, he can walk you through options. PM him.

Chris.

With my senario including the 235/35/19 tires which are 25.51" tall I was able to get 3" of drop over stock with 235/60/15's which are 26.1 tall. So a half an inch lower was just in the 19" tires and the other 2.5 was in the QA1. At this drop I could still have lowered it more by spinning the lock screw down another inch, I am not sure if at some point the suspension would bottom out and prevent it from going lower. I did not actually drive my car with the 3" drop but it did roll around the garage by pushing it, the tires were barely clearing the outside bolt that holds the inner fender to the outter fender. In other words I am not exactly saying you could drive the car with this drop. I think for practical purposes 1.5 to 2.5 inches of drop is the most you "should" get, I believe QA1 advertises a 2" drop with this setup.

One thing I forgot to try and factor and that is the sagging original springs. I would guess I was already 1" lower than stock when I started so you might be able to add another inch to the overall drop from factory specs. Most people don't have a factor ride height anymore anyway so it may not matter.
