I'm doing a lock change on a 68.I can't get the thing to turn over to accessories. It's the right key (I think) as it will start up with it.Any clues on how to manhandle this thing for a lock change?

acc is the far left position. you must push in the key. if the key goes to the right, you must already have the correct key for the lock cylinder. i just swapped mine out on my bird. not too bad, really. the switch is the same for a camaro, ac delco part, about $25. it's easy with a shop manual to remove. you have to move the key to the acc position while putting a paperclip in the small hole in the lock cylinder, and turn even more to the left past acc and it will come out. it won't come all the way out till you unscrew the bezel. it can be done with the dash carrier in, but i found it way easier with it out (drop the column, 7 dash carrier screws, disconnect the speedo and wiring harness, etc.).

Done that (pushed in the key),and what is giveing me fits is it seems as though a tumbler pin is hung up to prevent it from going to the left.I jiggled it,pushed it and jiggled it.I'm almost afraid I will twist the key off in the lock it's so stuburn.I was hopeing I don't have to drill it out and change the ignition.I got a new one waiting just in case.
