I just bought a steering wheel. To my surprise it seems a little "ovalish". I was under the impression that the 67 Camaro Steering wheel would be perfectly round. My wheel measures about 16" wide and about 15.2" tall. These measurements are taken as if it was mounted with the cars wheels straight. I spoke to the seller but he confirmed that the wheel in his actual 67 Camaro has the same 15"x16" dimensions. His guess is that GM did this to provide slightly more leg room, but he wasn't sure.

Could any one with a 67 Camaro confirm or deny these measurements for a STOCK/ORIGINAL steering wheel. I have been unable to find the specs on a 67 wheel anywhere on the internet.

i've never seen a perfectly round one. i'm not sure if they were made that way, or 'shrunk' over time, like the plastic so often does.
