: Factory 68 with 427 ??

A guy I work with is convinced his friend's 68 has a factory cowl hood and factory 427.

I explained that ZL2 cowl hoods were not a factory item until around December 68 on 69 model Camaros.
I also believe they were not available as a dealer item any earlier, as they hadn't even been made until Sept of 68 according to the drawings in the 69 AIM.

The 427.
I explained that IF it had a 427 from new, it would have to be a dealer install. Were there any 68s that rolled off the production line with 427s?
This would have to mean a 68 COPO.
I strongly doubt it.
Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe I'll offer him half a mil for his friend's Camaro if I'm wrong! :p

Factory, Yenko, Baldwin, Nicky or installed buy the owner doesn't make one 68 427 Camaro any better then the other :o))

A Yenko-installed 427 may not be any better than an owner installed one, but it certainly is more valuable---significantly more valuable!!

There have been rumors of 68 COPO 427, as sort of a prelude to the 69 COPO, but none have been documented. Very unlikely.

However in 68, Yenko was ordering L78 with COPO9737 (Sports Car Conversion--140 speedo, larger front swaybar, and 15" wheels)

No factory cowl hoods were installed until later in the 69 model year.
