If you guys could please look at the hood on my 69, in my sig link, Image #2. The right front of the hood is raised above the front cowl/fend. It seems to fit well on the drivers side. It is not the hood bumper. I stopped by a local body shop and they suggested installing some shims between the radiator support and the fender to rais that area.

I dont knw if this is correct, i think it will screw up my door alignment on that side. After reading another post Im going to check the front sub bushings out.

I seen a post that stated these hoods need to be adjusted when fitting body panels, Im assuming who ever installed this bought a new hood and just painted it. Hell I seen Chad from AutoRoD Tech standing on his hood to "align" it lol..

Any help would be great. If you want more pics i can post them.

Does the hood touch the bumper on that left side, or can you push it down? I have also heard of people having to trim the aftermarket hood bumpers down because they were to big. Is the hood flush at the rear on the left side or is it a little high? You may be able to put a shim where the hood mounts to the hinges to pivot the hood forward. I believe you would shim the rear most bolt to lower the front edge and the front bolt to lower the rear of the hood. In your picture it looks like the front drivers side may be a little low. If the drivers side is low I would think raising that side may also inadvertantly lower the passenger side. Sometimes you may need to settle for a happy medium and split the difference. I have also heard of people using 2x4s and standing on the hoods to bend them to fit correctly, but I would try to shim somewhere first and as a last resort bend the hood. Just some easy suggestions you could try.

Chris, read the 'Panel Alignment' thread in the 'How to' Sticky at the top of this section (Body Shop Forum).

You can thank everyone here on this site, as I would have acquired that tip on this site and that particular information probably came from the sticky Mark pointed you to.

Well I did as suggested above, read the sticky and spent quite some time on the hinge adjustment. I tried shims of various sizes, but best is no shims at all. Its much better then before, but not perfect. I may try to cut more adjustment into the hinges this may help finish it off. Either way im much happier with the look now.
