A while back on here someone said that Vintage Air would sell a cover/plate for the A/C hole in the firewall of a A/C car that was being converted to non-a/c. I called them up and the guy knew nothign about it and couldn't help me.

If someone has bought the part or know exactly what it is called please give me the part# so I can order it. I am trying to convert my 69 Camaro (originally a/c) to non-a/c and I have no experience at welding so putting a plate in there is out of the question.

If anyone has any other alternatives to the Vintage Air cap also please let me know.

Thanks,
Steven Calise

Vintage Air units go under the dash, so I believe they supply the cover for the original hole in the firewall in all installation kits. Try a different approach---ask for the piece that comes with a 69 kit to cover the hole in the firewall(remeber to spec BB or SB engine as it was originally). They should be able to find it that way. The guy might have written you off when you said you were converting to NON AC and not wanted to mess with it. They put their kits together based on the configuration of the car so I would bet they have assembly lines with bins of the stuff to pack into the customer's box for their car.

Good Luck

I ordered the parts your talking about 3 times, they got it wrong everytime. They used the parts your talking about on a 67 Camaro in Super Chevy, and that's where I got the part #'s. If you have any luck, let me know, I still need them.

I have ordered these covers on a few occasions. The part numbers I have used are: for a factory A/C car part # 62271VCE and for a non factory A/C car part # 62220-VCI. The plate for the non A/C car is 2 pieces and has a bulkhead fitting in it for their A/C system so it's not a solid flat cover like the factory A/C car cover. Hope this helps.
