Hi, the shop is suppose to finally get the car painted today (only around 2 months later than expected) so I need people's opinion. The car is a 67' and is going to be painted Lemans Blue (the new dark blue not the lighter version found in the 60's) which is found on the 2005 and newer (I think) Corvettes. I am going to have them put the Z28 stripes on it but I can't decide if I want to go with white or silver stripes. The silver is a medium shade with some metallic and the white is, well, white. I've gotten mixed input from others and would like a few more opinions before I commit. I like both and am having a hard time making a decision. Any pics of similar color combinations are welcome. Thanks

I see alot of blue cars with white stripes around here. I would go with the silver, that should look cool!

I voted white because I love the contrast. I have seen silver on blues before and I didn't feel they stood out much. It depends on the look you are after. White is very common. Silver isn't, still looks good depending on shades and such. White more correct if you are going for original. So, it depends on the rest of the cars theme.

I like 'em both but my preference is silver. The darker the blue the more I would lean toward silver. But.....you can't go wrong either way!

I went with Mercedes silver on my car. It's a little light, if I had to do it again I would get a darker silver.

I went with silver because everybody has white stripes, just wanted to be a little different. My vote SILVER

Definitely white. Do yourself (and your car, for that matter) and make sure the stripes are going to be the correct dimensions and in the right place. Frank.

I am having the same delima. I am leaning towards white mostly because of how nice Patrick's (Speedfreak) car looks. Here's how mine looks without stripes at all.

Wow, that is a light silver Patrick. I thought it was white.

If you want contrast I say go White. Silver has a tendancy to look grey and with blue can look wishy washy imo. Or get some candy blue stripes in the same hue with some sparkle so they stand out.

Not all silvers are created equal..... go to your painter and ask to see his color books. I ended up using a Cadillac color for my silver stripes and looked at about 30 different silvers, laid the chips on my car to try and get the best idea of what would look right before I chose one. My car is not blue but I like the silver stripes , though white would be fine too

Thanks for all the opinions, I'm leaning towards white at the moment but I'm not sure. Speedfreak, what is the color silver you used for your stripes. I know you said Mercedes but does it have a particular name or code. It looks like a nice compromise between white and a darker silver, it still offers a nice color contrast. You all have great looking cars, hopefully mine comes out looking as good. Thanks again and keep the opinions comming since I've still got a couple of days to make a decision.

Eric,

Take an old piece of sheetmetal, have it painted Lemans blue and then have the painter add 1 stripe each color. Not side by side; as much space as possible between the stripes; you must have the blue on either side of the stripe. I left my test pattern in the bed of my pickup so it was always in direct sunlight but it wasn't always in my line of sight. After a couple of days the decision will become obvious. Just be aware of which stripe your eyes are drawn to first. FWIW...I prefer the silver. Good luck!

That's a real common thing for the painter to do; mine used an empty gallon reducer can, and shot the base and then the two stripe colors.

I had them do up a test panel with the new Lemans blue and the white stripes, I guess I'll call them up Monday and see if they can throw a silver stripe on there. Staying close to factory original colors is not really a priority. I plan on keeping the car and just want it to look as nice as possible. Thanks

I will get the code for you.

Thanks. In the shade it looks white but in the sun it is clearly silver.
I still say silver just to be different!

Well, the car was painted blue last week and they should get it wet sanded this week along with getting the stripes on it. I've decided to go with plain white stripes or a little duller white with some metallic in it. I will probably decide after looking at the test panel again tommorrow which should have the metallic white stripe on. The blue (corvette lemans blue) looks amazing in person, very dark in the shade or dim light but it comes alive in the sun. I'll post pics of it next week. Thanks again for all of you who chimed in with your preference!
