View Full Version : Are they selling??? Phatbudde Jun 9th, 08, 08:28 PM So are the 1st Gen Cameros selling for what they are "worth", or has the value been hurt along with most everything else in this economy? Fuzzyhall Jun 9th, 08, 09:29 PM I think prices for most are slightly down anywhere in the 5-10% range. Higher end cars seem to hold a decent value. The mid range cars (15-30K) are experiencing the most dip in value. Just my thoughts! Phatbudde Jun 10th, 08, 12:22 AM Thanks, I am looking at camaros, have a 67 vert bird, but just wondering what they are really worth. I guess the old saying is it is only worth what someone will pay.......................... 77thor Jun 10th, 08, 05:11 AM There's just fewer people out there right now that are in the market... due to the economy... IMO 1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Jun 10th, 08, 08:12 AM No problems with anyone selling any camaro's/musclecars around here, as soon as word gets out something is for sale or is advertised its gone. Microgiant Jun 10th, 08, 08:47 AM Ive noticed prices arent as jacked up on project cars. People are only asking 5k instead of 10+k. But I dont see a lot for sale, more than usual but theres just not a lot of cars out there. Dayton68Z28 Jun 10th, 08, 10:26 AM The days of using your home equity like an ATM are long gone. Consumer spending propped up the economy for several years. Home equity lines of credit paid for boats, cars, motor homes, and other toys. Those days are gone for now. To answer your question, prices have softened some from 3 years ago. OK69 Jun 10th, 08, 10:38 AM Look at EBAY completed listings. Maybe 1 in 5 or 6 sells. BUt they are priced very high on EBAY. tmannet Jun 10th, 08, 11:52 AM Joe, don't forget that even if 1 of 5 classic cars on Ebay is a successful sale, many sellers especially dealers use Ebay as (relatively) inexpensive world-wide advertising for their vehicles, and deals are made off e-bay after the auction ends... Brad74 Jun 10th, 08, 08:34 PM Not trying to push a sale, but I have had a 68 vert project for sale for about 2-3 months with just a few really interested people. Bunch of tire kickers. I do not believe the car to be priced out of line at 15K (I have it priced so I can move down some). I agree that the middle income folks that could afford a project are a little more strapped these days. If you have money a 30K car is not hard on the pocket book no matter what the economy. 695speed Jun 11th, 08, 05:10 AM I believe the seller still thinks prices should remain the same and the buyer thinks prices should be dropping considering the economy and like mentioned in another post, correction in the market. The madness had to end sooner or later... But I still see a lot of junk out there with stupid pricing on it.. Went and looked at a $2500 68 camaro yesterday that the guy wanted $11,000 for.. And can someone please define what "SOLID" means because I have asked specific questions before driving to look at a car and none of them are solid... And every car I have gone to look at is not solid but the seller claims it is.. Rusty quarters, fenders, etc. do not mean solid to me.. Why are these guys not being honest about their cars?????????? But I still have my money looking for a car and I will keep looking until I find the right car.. So if anyone has a car for sale around Westminster, SC I have cash up to $15,000 ready to spend for the right driver type car.. Thanks.. James.. camarodude67 Jun 11th, 08, 05:31 AM a camarodude67 Jun 11th, 08, 05:32 AM Not trying to push a sale, but I have had a 68 vert project for sale for about 2-3 months with just a few really interested people. Yes 15K is way out of line for a 68 Vert project car, I just sold my 67 Convert Rotisserie project car for 13500, loaded with options. Nice cars with options will sell, project cars depending on condition will sell. If it is junk and requires a lot of work then it will never sell for these overinflated prices, dont care what market we are in. I had a 67 RS/SS Convert matching number drivetrain, POP, owner history, fully loaded with options, desireable colors and sold it for 15K.... but needed a full restore. Jeff G. I sold a BB 68 vert for 17k a year or so ago. It was a very decent driver that didnt need a full boat resto. I thought it was worth 20k + but the guy with the cash told me different. bob 68Baldwin Jun 11th, 08, 11:36 AM I think of where you live plays into what you might get for your car,AZ versus NJ for example. Also True SS versus Non SS,4 spd versus auto, Original BB versus original SB cars.Someone asked me recently if the cars are done with because of gas prices.I said we will probably drive our cars less. Heck this is not something I want to give up ,its in my blood since 1974 when I got my first 69 Camaro SS 396 4spd car!! Its a addiction, might use your cars less and maybe buy less but Appreciate them even more.True American Musclecar stuff ,Old Rock and Roll,Priceless and timeless! GMJoe Jun 11th, 08, 03:05 PM Sellers around my area(PA) are still asking top dollar for first gen Camaros, i guy i know has a 69 previous 6 banger with a 396 auto in her now for sale for 15K, this car has sat out side uncovered and untouched for the last 10+ years and its a vinyl top car so you know there is a big mess just waiting for the new owner. Its probably a 7 to 8K car at best. heyatomicdave Jun 11th, 08, 10:08 PM Well, I just bought one. 67RS/SS 350, not too cheap either. Gas really doesn't matter that much because I'm not going to drive it everyday. Anyway, it probably gets better gas mileage than that turd sandwich gas guzzler of an SUV that I'm driving to work. Being shipped right now, can't wait to get it! okiemark Jun 11th, 08, 10:09 PM When the home equity money dries up, everything slows down. Including things like boats, campers and collector cars. Where I live (So. Cal) new and used car sales are down a staggering amount. As mentioned earlier, the mid-range cars hurt the most, maybe because there are so many of them now, but the high-end stuff seems to still sell; if not taking much longer than usual. Before I bought my car, I used to "tab" the ones I liked on here and Ebay. I went back and noticed many of them have now sold. Many in the mid-20's are still around. As far as "project" cars, I have a '68 that's been for sale about a week and I have only gotten a few calls. So, I'm getting it restored... so it can sit with the other mid-$20,000 cars that's not selling!!!! Hylton Jun 12th, 08, 05:09 AM No problems with anyone selling any camaro's/musclecars around here, as soon as word gets out something is for sale or is advertised its gone. Then why haven't your cars sold yet? You've been advertising all three of them for over a year and the 'vert for 5 years. 1969 RS/SS DROPTOP Jun 12th, 08, 07:15 AM Goes to show what you know Hylton which is nothing, They have all sold except for the vert, which is fine by me as ive owned it 14yrs already and 14 more wouldn't hurt me, I work and make money everyday therefore there's no fire sale/problems around here. :) Hylton Jun 12th, 08, 07:33 AM I wouldn't sell it if I were you. What would you replace it with? Hard to find the good stuff - never find that car again. ocean1 Jun 12th, 08, 10:04 AM camaros and most real muscle cars seem to be selling well here as well. I went to a place in Escondido who has a werehouse full of muscle cars for sale. Went there to look at a couple Camaros. He said sorry both sold for more than asking price to over seas buyers. He said because the dollar is lower it makes things cheaper here to over seas buyers and they are buying alot of classic muscle cars and shipping them arond the world. He was asking 22k for a coupe 67 in nice shape sold for 24k plus shipping to Australia. This was no a SS or RS either. Maybe they will actually start goin up if over seas buyers starting taking some of them out of the US. I dunno. Jason1968Camaro Jun 12th, 08, 01:21 PM I've had some tire kickers. Some think they're going to get a solid (all metal replaced in primer, motor running car) for less than $5K. They might get one, but it won't be mine. But, I haven't had anyone who actually knows first gens look at it either. Hylton Jun 12th, 08, 01:24 PM I've had some tire kickers.
