Could use some help, Ive done some searching but still cant get it. Im installing a pro billit distributor from msd (8361). Im looking at the curves and trying to match the curve on my current distributor. All I know is that Im set up with 16 deg @ 1000rpm and its all in by 3000 total is 38 deg. What I dont understand is the stop bushing, does it limit the total timing ? And is the initial advance built into the distributor. I dont see 16 deg crossing over 1000 rpm on these charts. All of these charts show less than 5 deg at 1000 rpm, I think Im confused on how this initial and total timing is calculated. Can some one explain this to me, my brain feels like squash! Thanks graemlins/clonk.gif

The stop bushing controls how much centrifical advance you have. So if you want 38 deg total you will want to use the blue bushing which is 21 deg if I remember right and set 17 deg inital .

17 inital plus 21 centrifical equals 38 total.

Remember if you are using a vacume advance, make sure it is disconected while setting your timing.

You control how soon the total comes in by the spring combination. I think I am running a light silver and a light blue spring in my set up and I have total advance in by 2800-3000 rpm.

I hope this helps,
Nick
