OK guys and gals, Im thinking I may let go of my 69 daytona yellow Z with just 65k documented miles. I have a idea of what I think its worth and have talked to a few other camaro guys who have given me ideas as well. I have promised one TC member here first crack at it(dont worry Billy:thumbsup:) before I sold it.

When describing this car its a lot easier to say what its missing than what it has!
Missing--
-original radiator
-smog pump
-steering wheel
-engine dipstick Yes! thats all!!

The car is a factory daytona yellow Z/black deluxe. with protecto plate and dealer invoice. Was bought brand new 20 minutes from my house. The original owner is still alive and lives 40 min. from my house, he is retired from delco remy in anderson In. which is where he worked when he bought the car new in 1969. The dealer invoice shows him trading in a 65 pontiac.

Options as listed on dealer invoice:

1-Tinted glass
2-Floor mats Fr & Rr
3-Positraction axle 373R
4-Power Disk Brakes
5-4-Speed Close-Ratio Trans
6-Tachometer
7-AM PB Radio
8-Rear Seat Speaker
9-Special Front Bumper (endura:thumbsup:)
10-Custom Deluxe Belts
11-Spec. Ducted Hood:thumbsup:
12-Style Trim Group
13-Special Performance Equipment (Z28 baby:yes:)
14-Custom Interior(black deluxe)

The cowl tag reads:

69 12437 Nor 344---
712 76 76
06A X33 D80

VIN # 124379N657---

If you look close at the options you will notice just how rare this car is. Center fuel guage car(no console with a tach) real cowl hood car, endura, etc etc.

The car retains all its BORN WITH equipment except for whats listed at the top!

YES, The original DZ motor, never decked, and still standard bore (65k miles does not need bored!!)Original from top to bottom(flat bottom air cleaner, 4053, 472 intake, 480 dist., 837 alternator, 367 starter on and on. Vin stamped by the oil filter.

YES, The original M21 trans with partial vin

YES, Born with 373 12 bolt with original gears.

The car needs complete restoration, but is the most complete and documented car I have ever owned or seen in my area!! The car has all its original sheetmetal but needs Quarters, outer wheel houses, trunk pan, at least a couple of floor patches in drivers foot area and LR foot area. I have stripped the car to a rolling shell to see what I had to work with. Rumor has it that it was in Hot Rod Magazine in the mid 70's due to the wild paint job that was done to it. I hate to sell this car!!!!!!! But I have 3-67 camaros and a 66 corvette convertible and need clear out the garage as I may be moving and don't want to move all these cars.

I would list all the dates and more info, but not wanting to help anyone clone a car!

I should probably put this car together then sell, but I don't think I will have time. Im sorry this is so lengthy, I just thought I would be thorough and save a lot of questions? So what is it worth?? I have gotten numbers from $35 to over $50k, thats a wide spread and want some more opinions please.

I could make that promise easy enough:thumbsup:

I posted this on here last night without discussing it with my wife. She is standing over my shoulder here this morning. Funny thing is she says sell the 66 vette first. I still want to know what this car is worth before I make any decisions to sell it or not. I will try and add some pics soon.

Sounds like a nice piece with good color, style trim, and pedigree. The down side is the work and expense involved getting it back to where it deserves. Its tough to break each ten grand threshold when selling and getting into the 40's with this project might be difficult? Since the Mrs. is looking over your shoulder ask yourselves what would someone elses wife say if a guy drags this home and says "honey look what I spent $XXX$ on!

Hey fellow Hoosier:beers:
Man, how you all fairing down there? I know the flooding is disasterus! I hope all is well?! Its been nasty here to! I was in that tornado last Fri. up here.

First off he -this someone else already screwed up by not discussing a INVESTMENT purchase like this with his wife before buying anyway!! ;)IMOP. This is the kinda of INVESTMENT that should be discussed in length between husband and wife before any $$$$$ changes hands.

Second, the guy that comes and looks at this car for that kinda money knows what the car is worth done or he isnt even coming to start with.

Third, maybe you missed the part where I said my wife said to sell the vette first and hang on to the Z for now? My wife is no dummy when it comes to these cars, she has a fair idea of what these cars are worth with docs and all the born with equipment. She knew what we had when we brought the car home needing a full restoration. The deal involved me trading one of her favorite cars for this. A beautiful 29k original miles, original paint, survivor, 69 chevelle loaded with options! that we were driving and having fun in.

Third, Not to sound harsh, but Im not interviewing the buyer to see if he talked to his wife anyway, thats his problem. But he 100% should!!

I have allready had offers in the 35k range. I had a fellow TC member put it to me this way also(You know who you are:thumbsup:) This car is a 6 figure car done, it has to be worth half needing the resto only. Dont need to hunt anything down for her! Its all there.

I could never have had this car if it didnt work out for me the way it did and I will never be able to afford to replace it. I feel like this is a car that just doesnt come along that often. There is NO doubt about what you have. Not a made up clone, or even a pieced together real Z.

Im not selling the car yet, and may not. I really would like to do this car:yes: I only posted to see what additional opinions and such I could get here. I have always had such great advice and opinions here and I always value each and every one! Including yours! Thanks so much!

The rumor is that this car was on the cover or in hot rod magazine in the mid 70's I am still researching this and trying to find a copy of the magazine. This paint was the in thing back then. You can see that the quarters were flared and I cant tell you how many different colors are in that paint job:noway: The guy I bought it from had his kids to start srapeing paint off of it, not sure with what??

yikes 65k did all that ;) . Sounds like a great potential car with all the original and rare z28 options but more like 20's maybe if someone has vision.

Travis, not knocking the car. Wish mine had the born-with motor. Looks like it needs wheel well mouldings, grille and YH wheels also. I am thinking $50K is a stretch. I am thinking $35K is fair. A car with that much potential needs NOS parts to finish it. Maybe $10K in NOS parts. Man I wish I had that one to start with a few years ago. :beers:

I'm with Gary. You can get a very nice numbers Z for $60K in today's market ($80K two years ago) It would be real easy to get upside down in this project if yo pay $50K on the front end.

In my opinion, a fully loaded Z is worth a little more than a stripped down one, but not more than $5K

Thanks Gary!

This is the reason for the post, as I said offers of 35 are on the table and when I heard the potential of 50 I wanted to come here and see what you all thought.

I was very fortunate to end up with this car. I really like it and all the options it has as well!

By the way I do have the YH rally wheels(5 of them) and

Not trying to sound harsh either but $50k is twice to much for that car, I just sold a nice matching numbers 69 Z/28 and it didn't fetch that. You will be lucky to get $20 to $25k, I would jump all over that $35k in a heartbeat.

Well I must be pretty lucky then!! I have 3 people who want it for 35k IF I sell it. Now that I think about it I was pretty lucky to get it. Your missing the point though, I only toyed with the idea of selling it. Its not for sale.

Funny thing is I could part this car out and get more than what you say its worth.

Anybody can find a block and stamp what they want on it, find the correct muncie, rears are all over the place--one on here now. Then call it a numbers matching Z. Happens all the time!!! Especially with pre X code cars. Some are taking it one step further and buying a tag from OL bucket of tags on ebay and guess what? Another numbers matching Z.

When I see what those rusted out shells with nothing left to use but a vin tag and a trim tag sell for what they do on fleabay. And I know what is going to happen there! Well, you get the point.

With all this going on there is always a element of doubt with a undocumented, non original motor etc. car.

I have a numbers matching 67 L78 camaro also, but not all of it is born with equipment. Are you saying its worth as much as Steve Shaugers 67 L78 he use to own??

Numbers matching and BORN with are 2 entirely different things in itself. This car can stand on its own!! No doubts with this one! I dont want to sound harsh either but to be honest the car you speak of sounds like no comparison!

I didnt start this to argue with anybody, I just wanted some REAL opinions from some of my buds here.

Hey 69METALMAN--What did you get out of your Z? Just curious
