I am considering doing a 2004R or 700R4 tranny swap. What years should I look for for either tranny? Would a 1990 700R4 work?

Vette, IROC-Z and truck 700's are considered to be the best cores, the truck "K" case is rumored to be the most durable. For the 200 the Buick GN or MonteCarlo SS cores are said to be the pick of the litter. If your making over 350hp you'll need to do some work to any of the above to make them last. 67 Plum Jun 14th, 08, 02:15 PM Be careful with the Vette trans some of them dont have the trans. mount holes.Vettes have a C beam from the rear the the trans. tailshaft and dont use a crossmember. camaronut79 Jun 14th, 08, 11:31 PM 2004r would be my first choice. most 700r4's are the same the corvette one's had a couple extra goodies from the factory IIRC. hey chad I passed by your house today on the way to tifton to get a 400 block, block was bad so it was a useless trip. I thought I seen a second gen (silver) by your shop , did you get another car? |
