I have been asking questions and doing searches regarding the to trannies. First questions: I have located a 2004R with a CT code is this a good core to use? The shop is asking $150 is that about right or to much? I imagine that I will have to replace all internals as the tranny has been sitting outside in the elements for who nows how long.
Next questions: I have searched but with no luck on what years or model 700R4's to use? Are they all interchangable (car, truck, 4x4)? What donor vehicles to look for?

The 200 4R is the same length as your M 22 as well as the Powerglide and Turbo 350. You will not have to get your driveshaft shortened. You can use your stock crossmember. However, you will need to move the crossmember back.

His 200 4R Transmissions are plenty strong. I have one behind my 459 hp 383.
As far as using a stock shifter, here is an option for you.

C-n-C I have seen that bottom link before. But it does not answer my questions. You guys that have done 700r swaps, but have not use the aftermarket trannys (BTO, Art Carr, etc.) what year trannys did you use from the salvage yards? Car, truck, truck 4x4? Are they all the same?

Use one out of a Monte Carlos SS or Hurst Olds/Cutlass, they are in bold text, that were on the page CnC provided.

The 200R4 was used in Monte Carlo's & Grand National Buicks . I know that 87 & 88 had them but don't know how far back they go .

a 4x4 trans would have a different output shaft and no tail housing
