Does anyone tow their RWD car or Camaro on a tow dolly? Backwards, forwards? Is it bad to turn the rear gears from the coast side? Why or why not?

Hey Gary - My friend Brian has dollied his 1st gen to Seattle and back about 2000 miles. His front wheels were on the dolly and he drops the driveshaft. He's been doing it for years to different places and with different cars with no rear end problems that I have heard of...

I second what Dennis said. I think the problems come from turning the trans (auto) with out the pump to lubricate things. With 90W in the rear end I don't think it's gonna suffer from lack o lube.

if it is an auto, you need to disconnect the driveshaft like yellow said the problem comes from not spinning the pump
manual trans you can just put it in neutral

like they said just make sure there is lube in the rear and trans if manual

you want to put engine on the tow dolly.if not car will walk back left to right side to side. weight must be towed on axle of dolly.if travleing long distance i prefer car trailer feels safer at higer speeds.

I don't have room to store a trailer so I thought about a dolly. I know they were designed to tow a FWD car behind a motorhome. Wasn't sure if running the diff gears from the coast side is a problem.
