I'am going to installing a Canton 1/2" 4 hole carb spacer on my Camaro tommow.
My plane is to install carb, 4 hole gasket, 4 hole spacer, open gasket then intake. Would this be good?
Also is there something I should use on gaskets to make them seal good and also come off later without a problem? I have some copper looking antiseize brush on stuff.

I don't see any reason that they wouldn't as long as you don't use any type of sealant on the intake.

......only if you don't want your eggs to stick to your intake l:).
Seriously....you don't need the Butter flavored Pam. It might even stain the intake and that wouldn't be a good thing :noway:.

FWIW..I dust the base plate gaskets with talcum powder prior to install.

Ray - match your intake with the 1st gasket, square bore = square open gasket, 4 hole manifold = 4 hole gasket.

Then 4 hole spacer, 4 hole gasket and finally the carb. Install all of them dry, the pam is for bowl gaskets when you think you will be doing a lot of jet changes...

Just throw it on there.
If it does have to be scraped off, it will most likely come off in one piece.
Done this before.

I install the gaskets dry in the order you originally stated, but that isn't why I'm posting ...

The reason I'm posting is to tell you that you will LOVE this spacer. Canton Racing Products make an excellent phenolic space that WILL leave your carburator and thus your fuel very COOL even after idleing in traffic on a hot afternoon. I have one on my El Camino, I've had it there for about 4 years and wouldn't use anything else.

Got it installed Couple of days ago. Had a little bog so I change the pump cam from red one to pink. Now its hauling A down the road :beers:. Going to change pump jet from 28 to 31 next.
Have' nt had much time, my and I just got from hospital today. My Wife Had a 6mm kidney stone basted today. They got it and she is resting well now. I'll be able to do a little more testing in couple of days.

DjD, I just use two open gaskets. Both of them are square open gaskets. Why does it matter? Does it create any issues? If so, what types? I am very interested in this. Thanks.

Between the carb and the 4 hole spacer you want a 4 hole gasket because each surface has material between the 4 holes and using an open square gasket would leave a small gap connecting each hole defeating the effect of a 4 hole spacer. If you have the square open spacer it's not a problem, you would run the open gasket.

Hey Ray, it looks like I mis-read how you were installing the gaskets. What you and I both described is the same, I started at the manifold as if actually installing each item, you started at the carb and worked your way to the manifold and that threw me when I read and replied...
