Got a 69 Camaro big block with a M21. The tranny has been professionally overhauled. The shifter is a new reproduction Hurst Competion and the linkage is new reproduction. Here's the problem. The shifter works great 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. But when I put it in reverse it locks the shifter because the shifting are and linkage are straight and bind up. I have adjusted the rod until I'm blue in the face. It's either too short and it jumps out of reverse or its too long and locks into gear. Can anyone help me with this?

Have you inserted a 3/16 drill bit into the shifter to align all the shift rods of the shifter?
Then place all shift forks into neutral and adjust the linkage rods to slip into place?
Maybe the reverse trans lever is too short?

yes, I placed the shifter in neutral and placed a bit in and yes I used the metal bushings. I thought that as long as you aligned everything with a 3/16 bit that everything would be fine. But not in this situation. I'm starting to believe that its the shifting rods so I have ordered new shifting rods from Summit. Hopefully this will fix the problem.
