2008 LONE STAR LOOP 1000

“HEART OF TEXAS TOUR”

OCTOBER 17-19, 2008

WELCOME to the “FIRST ANNUAL LONE STAR LOOP 1000”. The inaugural tour is titled the “HEART OF TEXAS TOUR” in that it is a delightful sampling of as many of the representative areas and terrains of our fair state of Texas as possible in a steady, three day drive. “1000 miles ain’t far in Texas!” We have also taken great pains to plan the route along many of the old, established state and federal highways. Come along with us and behold the many facets and majestic grandeur of the great “Lone Star State”.

The 2008 LONE STAR LOOP 1000 is a planned 3-day, 1000 total miles, non-competitive, drive-at-your-own-pace, scenic tour circuit of the “heart” of Texas. All antique vehicle makes, vintage Hot Rods, and “Muscle Cars” are welcome. The Start and Finish for the 2008 route is at Weatherford, Texas and includes the following:

 29 COUNTIES
 28 COUNTY COURTHOUSES
 70 TOWNS
 NO INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS

While the 3-day tour route is carefully planned and mapped for your convenience and driving pleasure, the personal preference of restaurants at towns designated as lunch stops and motels at evening stops are the option and responsibility of the individual participants to secure reservations and accommodations. In your packet are lists of and links to restaurants and lodging/camping facilities listed by the associated Chambers of Commerce of the town where the stop is made (See “Restaurants” and “Lodging-Camping”). It is advisable that lodging reservations be made early to ensure availability.

Local tourist attractions are also featured in many towns along the route and are viewable by accessing the town’s website (See “Tourism”). You may want to consider bringing along your laptop to be able to plan extra site-seeing activities as you go.

We invite all individuals, companies, and corporations represented to be a part of our sponsorship program. Your support as a sponsor will be greatly rewarded as you enjoy the benefits of advertising on many different levels as well as your satisfaction of having added enrichment and quality to the overall tour for the benefit of all participants.

We look forward to your participation in this exciting event and are eager to see what special vehicle you bring to add to this wonderful exhibit of collector cars in motion.

See you on the LOOP!
