Stupid question, I know....
But what is the dimple (or dent) for on some original 8.5" covers?
As you look at the cover from behind, it is in the lower right quadrant and looks like someone hit it with a punch or shot it with a .22
I have seen it on some but not on others.

Should be a round magnet to catch those metal slivers.

A place where the magnet it mounted.

OK, thanks for the info. I had heard something about a magnet before but the way the dimple looks...it looks more like damage than something that the factory would have done.
