I have picked out a couple compressors, but I really don't know the ins and outs of compressors. I am looking at spending around $500, the only things that I have to have is a 220v setup that is oiled. Here are a couple links to the two that I am looking at right now. Let me know what you think or if you have any other models for me to check out.

its all about how much cfm the compressor puts out at 90psi. Buy whichever has the highest

That's the one I have... had it for about 2 years now... I've never painted with it, but have run a bunch of air tools on it and have sprayed quite a bit of lacquer (woodworking). I have never regretted this purchase. I bought it locally from Tractor Supply for about $50 cheaper than Northern Tool has it listed here.

Dustin,,

I have that one from Home Depot and I have painted with it and used it for sandblasting...In a blasting cabinet and a pressure blaster and so far it has not let me down. I have not tried using a D/A sander with it becasue of the amount of CFM you need with that tool. One thing it does have... a high RPM rate so the intake noise is rather loud. Mine sits aprox 4 feet away from my blasting cabinet so I have to use ear plugs to reduce the noise. Overall it's worth the price...

I'd assume the "extra" $50 is used toward the "free shipping" to deliver it to your door.;)

I bought the 60 ga. from Lowes because it was slightly cheaper, and had a slightly higher CFM than the home depot one. They has a 25% on all compressor sale and I picked mine up for $399 minus 25%.

Agreed - we use I-R compressors for our scuba applications (over 3000psi) and they are awesome. I have a crappy Home Depot one that can't keep up with my sandblaster so I am going to get another one... Right after paint... And the Interior... And the Trim... and... :p

Bingo. TSC is only about a 1/2 mile from my house and I have a big, strong 18-year old son. So picking it up myself was no big deal...:D
