So I am cleaning out a bin of extra parts and find a car jack. Its roughly 12 inches long and you actually turn the knob clockwise to jack the car up. Anyone know what car this is from or is it a piece from a car store? I will post pics later if anyone needs them to identify. Didn't see any markings either.

sounds like a scissors jack maybe. I used to keep a bunch of them around, still have 2 or 3. Lots of cars came with them, and there are heavier ones available. I have one that is moderately heavy in my remaining collection.

Not a scissor jack. Goes up and down like a regular jack. My camera is being borrowed for the night so as soon as it is returned.....pics will follow

Our 89 suburban has a jack like that. Kind of a goofy "screw jack" but looks like a bottle jack without the pump..

Yea, sounds like the jack for my GMC van. You may also have a long folding crank to slip in the slot to turn the knob.

pretty much every pickup built since the late 70's came with a jack like that. the one in my 81 Ford F250 is mounted to the inner fender well right next to the engine.

Well that"s not good news to me. I was going to sell it on e-bay as "rare" and pay for my daughters college.
