1967 Chevrolet Camaro with factory hidden headlights, automatic transmission, air conditioning and 4-barrel v8 engine. Everything appears authentic and original except for paint and cowl induction hood used for z28 coupes. The car is in excellent shape and currently lives in a climate controlled garage.
Ice Cold Air Conditioning
Rebuilt automatic transmission - console and 2 speed power glide. Rebuilt by local GM certified transmission shop.
Rebuilt 4-barrel carb: quadrajet built by National Carb.
Museum quality and concourse correct.
ETC ETC... what do you think is wrong with it? Is it a clone? Thinking of picking this up. Says it climate controlled storage, concourse correct, Show quality etc.. Sounds way to cheap
markfromark Jun 20th, 08, 08:34 PM Looks like it will take $25k to buy it, since that's what his Buy It Now price is set at (and reserve isn't met at $15k+).
PANTHER-BUFF Jun 20th, 08, 09:07 PM According to what I have read, the classic car market is down 31%. May not be the best buy. I seen a SS/RS, numbers car sell for 25K last week om EBAY.......
thorpe67RS Jun 20th, 08, 09:22 PM I would agree it would be a good deal at 15k. But thats not what your gonna buy it for. 25k is however not a "good" deal.
Joe Harrison Jun 21st, 08, 05:55 AM Looks like a nice car but someone went emblem happy in the parts catalog and can't decide what it is. The paint looks shiney on the fender tops but the engine bay area and rockers don't look so great. It's been painted on the underside and the exhaust has over spray on it.
I would want to give this one a very close inspection at even the 15K price. LOts of stuff could be hiding under all those shiney repop parts.
deerhunter Jun 21st, 08, 10:06 AM I agree with a thourough inspection. I screwed up years ago and bought a Mustang on ebay. They did send a lot of pictures and a supposedly knowledgeable individual inspected the car before I bought it. I now have paint bubbles that weren't there to begin with. There were a few minor issues also. Luckily I didn't get hit too bad on the price. I now know a lot of problems can be covered in a THICK paint job. Oh, the place is no longer in business either so I have no way to pursue this further.
ocean1 Jun 21st, 08, 12:49 PM Dang I thought even at 25k it looked like a pretty good deal. 15k this far in the auction is a major bummer. I didnt know prices had fallin that far. The engine compartmet needs some serious detailing for sure. I think his statements about show, concourse, climate controlled storage may be a bit of a stretch but still looks like it was a good deal. Maybe Im still stuck in the premium pricing days of Camaros lol. What should I offer? No way I can get a car that nice in San Diego for 20 or less. Thinking 22-23k? Anyone tell if its just a standard coupe or a clone?
thorpe67RS Jun 21st, 08, 03:55 PM Its definitely an RS. Not sure whats going on with the paint on the bottom of the car (rocker area). If there are no hidden issues it would be a great buy at 15k in my opinion. Prices havent fallen that much. But again your not going to buy it for 15k. I know i would have to see that car in person...especially before i started thinking about spending 20k+ on it.
skipdaddie Jun 21st, 08, 04:07 PM In my experience when someone is selling a car and says museum quality and concorse correct, they have no clue what they are talking about.
guccieng Jun 21st, 08, 04:51 PM apologies for hj, but is anyone still looking ebay? this is retarded! it's all lies and ignorance. aren't we better than this?
thorpe67RS Jun 22nd, 08, 04:05 PM apologies for hj, but is anyone still looking ebay? this is retarded! it's all lies and ignorance. aren't we better than this?
Well, i bought both my cars off ebay. Its not ALL lies and ignorance. Buyer beware is always a good rule of thumb but there are still some good cars on ebay.
jg95z28 Jun 23rd, 08, 11:05 AM Its a nice looking RS, fwiw. Its too bad about the color change, badges and missing vinyl top. Makes me glad I never modified my gold-on-gold 67 RS like I originally planned to.
Here in northern California I could easily see the seller asking $25k+ for it, not that he'd get it mind you.
tmannet Jun 23rd, 08, 12:06 PM I also bought my last 2 camaros on Ebay (2003 and 2005), sight unseen-- but only after extended back-and-forth with the seller on the phone, exhanging photos, etc. So Ebay is not all smoke-and-mirrors. But since I've been lucky twice, I'm not gonna push that luck, I don't think I'll buy again w/o seeing first. Seems like the overexaggerated ads are now almost the norm. If you really want a car either go see it or get a TC member who lives nearby go go check it out.
ocean1 Jun 23rd, 08, 11:55 PM I think Ebay doesnt seem to be doing very well for cars these days. I will send him an offer site unseen. If he wants more I will have to go check it out. I agree if he put that in our local auto or classic trader and its as nice as he says he would get that price (buy it now price). After looking at some of these auctions on Ebay no way I would put mine on there. I would be heart broke lol. I think if you want top dollar people are going to want to see it. Dont think Ebay is bringing in the $$. I mean im going to offer less. Just no way of knowing really what your going to get.
