im under the impression that shifting your automatic manually is bad for the transmission..right? so if i put a hurst shifter or a b&m shifter in my car is that easier on the transmission? or is it still bad to shift it manually?

Pulling it down to a lower gear is not good if the desired gear causes the engine to reach high speed without giving it gas, such as when compression braking the car. But other than that, have fun.
