I am looking to convert my powerglide from column shift to floor shift. The AIM shows the shift lever attached to the trans to be different but doesn't list any part numbers.

My column shift lever doesn't look like it will work with the cable for the floor shift. The u shaped lever has no access to it hole in park from the rear like the cable would be.

Also, the AIM does not show the kickdown bracket on the trans lever for floor shift. Do you still need it?

I cannot find anybody that has these parts as they all seem to all be conversion kits to T350 or 400.

Do I need to take the lever out by opening up the trans to change?

Yes, in '67 the trans shifter lever/bracket is different between the coulmn- and floor-shifted models.

Seeking a different bracket will be a 'needle in a haystack' find. The lever is clamped inside the trans, so the pan will have to be dropped.

The kickdown lever will be the same between the two shifters as the kickdown is pedal actuated.

Everett - Thanks. Just to confirm, how about for a 68?

I have seen a bracket for T350 in the resto catalogs that shows a lever similar to whats in the 68 assembly manual for the floor shift version. Do you know if this is different than the PG?

Once again - Thanks for the help.

No, you need one for a P/G. Different animal.

You can add an extension to attach the linkage to the existing bracket with some ingenuity.

Thanks. So what I hear is that there is no easy way out.

OK. Does anyone have a picture of the shift lever set up on a 68 powerglide with floor shift? I know that 67 used different linkage. (Thanks for the pictures DeAngelo).
