Hi Guys, let me tell you what im running and the problem. I have a 1992 camaro z28 5.7 lt1 engine and a 2002 Firebird T56 6 speed trans that we put into a 1985 monte carlo ss. the car ran great no problems, started good. lots of power, then it started having starting problems where the key wouldnt turn the starter over. I assumed it was the ignition switch on the column. i bought a new one disconnected the battery cables, and then put it on and it didnt fix the problem. So i pulled the starter thinking it could be the selenoid. while checking that after i had pulled off the battery cable off the starter, i noticed the smaller wire to the starter was loose, i went ahead and pulled the starter off and tested it anyways, it worked fine, so i figured it was just the loose wire, i reinstalled the starter and now the key turns the car over just fine...this is where my problems started. now for some reason it has a hard time starting, it turns over and over and finally catches and starts. then if i drive the car i take it down the road, at low rpms i step on the gas hard and it starts jerking the car really bad, and it bogs down the motor and i have no acceleration at all, and it sounds like its just sucking air. i can get out of the throttle and it will start accelerating again. i have changed out the coil and i am running the msd 6al and the msd coil, it is an external coil, i also changed out the distributor with a mallory oem replacement distributor with ne module. tested the maf it was fine, but i did notice after messing with the starter that the vaccum line to the maf was broken and i repaired it if i pull the vaccum line off the map while the car is running it does make the engine run a lot worse at idle, put a new fuel filter in as well, its not pulling any codes. does anyone have any ideas here. please help it would be greatly appreciated. car ran great before i troubleshooted starting problem.

Does the car have an electric fuel pump? If so, this is the same thing that happened to my 93 Roadmaster. I know, it's a big can and not a Camaro, but hey, it gets 430 miles to a tank. My problem was if I was easy on the throttle, everything was ok(in the beginning). If I tried to accelerate hard, the car would stumble. Eventually, I had to contiuously stab the throttle over and over just to get it to move, and when it did move, it would only achieve 20mph. The problem was the electric fuel pump. It was bad. Installed a new pump and screen in the tank, and everything was back to normal.

Scott, from us lurkers, you've got a head scratcher.(????) Please report what you find. All this lurker can think of is that somehow the computer lost its info when you unhooked the battery. Weird.

Just so you know, when my fuel pump issue arose, there were no trouble codes.
