I bought a carb thru Jegs 3 years ago, but at the time didn't get throttle cables etc. The carb is an Edlebrock 1406 w/ auto choke. What parts and pieces do I need to pick up? I tried looking at the Jegs book and site, but wasn't sure what all was needed.

The car was running last fall on a trigger starter so I had no need but now...well...as I tell a few of my regular vette customers, I can put the engine together and make it go down the road, just as long as someone else picks the parts.

The stock mechanical linkage will work fine and hook right up.

Okay, rod is on, but not pinned in yet. Something just doesn't look right, plus I don't have a return spring yet. There is a spacer under the carb that was needed to accomodate the block.

Any suggestions?

Marybeth,
That looks just like the Rod I just installed from Ricks. I think it goes the other way with the threading facing forward. I think the threads would hit the firewall at wide open that way.

I just installed mine this week. I can take a pic if you would like. But my engine bay isn't as pretty :).

The threaded end clears the firewall by 1/2" or better and the lever is not bouncing off the valve covers (Yeah they are black) We did turn the back of the rod so it goes thru the lever from the inside and thru the front from the outside. (if that makes sense) It looks better but because of the spacer is still at an angle. Guess there is no getting around that.

Oh yeah, my rod and hardware kit came from Paragon. Had to be adapted from a vette but it works.

The spacer and the high hole position on the carb arm are not doing you any favors, but as long as it doesn't bind and you can get WOT, it should be fine.
