I had a crate Scoggin Dickey Vortec 360hp TPI engine installed in my car a year ago. It is running very rich so I have not put more than a couple hundred miles on it.

I can't find anyone around here to dyno/tune it as it has the OBD I computer. I did have PCM4LESS create a custom chip but it's not correct and I don't want them to retry another fix by mail. I was considering the Holley Commander 950 for the 85-92 TPI cars. I'll have tp upgrade to a speed density though.

Question is:

1) Is this a good solution? This IROC will pretty much be my daily driver and only be raced a couple times a month. Here is the one I'm looking at http://www.sdparts.com/product/H950-101/198592GMTPICommander950EnginemanagementSystems.asp x

2) What does it take to convert to the speed density?

Any other suggestions are very welcome. I have a Camaro with a new engine and trans. that I can't even drive. Not a good feeling.

Lately I've also been considering going dual carb. or just single carb. with a combo like this. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL%2D20294&FROM=MG
Would this be the easiest thing to do? I just want to get back in the Camaro. I'm emission exempt by the way.

Have you looked at RTtuner?
Also, DIYefi is a good site for info.

RTtuner plus a few addons and a prom burner will let you do your own thing, including datalogging, tuning, and burning your own proms. I have also seen info somewhere on converting to a flash rom.

Converting to speed density is simply a matter of using a speed density computer or program in your existing computer, and disconnecting or removing the MAF sensor.

Converting to a c950 system is do-able, they use all the same sensors as what you have, and I think holley has a specific setup with the correct harness for the TPI, but it's not really required. Also, any stock "extras" you may have, including comms between the engine and the body computer, VATS, etc would be lost.

I did look at the moates website but got quite confused. I just don't understand the FI stuff at all.

I am going to speak with a local speed shop soon and try to plan something with them. I'm just hoping to get some ammo here to help solve the issue.

I'm not going to be able to tune it myself with any product dealing with FI. I'm old school but wanted to keep my car TPI. I will suggest RT tuner to my shop. Maybe they can advise me on a specific order. Thanks Jim.

why not let the company that made your chip have another crack at getting it right? give them all of your engine specs and tell them exactly what is wrong with the first chip. i'd bet they get it right on the second try, or at least get it closer. even if it takes a few tries, it's still cheaper than the $2k or more you will spend on an aftermarket setup.
are you sure you are running the correct injectors for your engine, and did the chip company know what injectors you are running? if you are running larger than stock injectors, but they mapped out a program for stockers, then it is going to be a bit on the rich side.
