The taillights look like a foreign made. Maybe the car is a Holden, made in Australia ? SixtyAte Jun 26th, 08, 07:23 PM Sure looks like an old Studebaker Lark... Kev no69x-44 Jun 26th, 08, 08:48 PM Sure looks like an old Studebaker Lark... Kev Yeah, I was thinking Studebaker too. Fred Mertz Jun 26th, 08, 10:16 PM I'm thinking English Ford Cortina. 67 Deep Water Blue Jun 26th, 08, 10:21 PM Rambler ? DHONDAGOD Jun 26th, 08, 10:29 PM Ugly???? In a cool sort of Mad Max kinda way.... :D Chris:cool: RobSS1113 Jun 27th, 08, 12:06 AM ^^^ you beat me to the ugly comment LOL !! what ever kind of fugly car it is .............It sure has ALOT of spectators looking at it. pdq67 Jun 27th, 08, 08:27 PM Not a Stude! No, it doesn't have the front end of an early Falcon. Not a Rambler either... It's foreign, but from where?? pdq67 pdq67 Jun 27th, 08, 08:45 PM My bad. yellow69RS Jun 28th, 08, 09:29 AM I'm thinking English Ford Cortina. That was my first thought also. Jeff camaroman7d Jun 28th, 08, 09:38 AM From the tailights I would say some sort of Fiat or maybe Puegot DjD Jun 28th, 08, 09:54 AM I think it's an English Ford, a bit newer version of this '66 Anglia maybe... http://home.pacbell.net/kstixrud/Image2.jpg Steptoe Jun 28th, 08, 02:42 PM No it is not A holden..the closest shape to that is the EH model No not a Cortina either the closest shape to that is mk 2 Not a An Anglia either...the cortina and escort replaced the Anglia model And before someone mentions it its not a vauxell victor or cresta , or Ford Zepher mk 1 to mkIV, or A Aussie Chrysler valiant The Cresta being by the closest shape to all those above , and an early 60s Aussie Falcon, but none of these It is none of the above which basically eilinates Aussie/NZ and British. Has the wrong lines for 50s European...audi, merc, bmw, renult, citron etc I would go with American 60s car of some sort. DJD the pic of the Anglia above, and even the colour is a stock factory, brings back a lot of memories...these where 'boy racer' cars back in my day, we put 1600 and crossflow engines in them. Z15CAM Jun 28th, 08, 05:03 PM Agreed , it's not a Cortina, Anglia or Prefect That is one miss matched car. Could be the 2nd model of the Russian Scoda. Here's a new model with similar lines :o)); but it looks French or Algerian to me and definitely not Italian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAkC9E8IOOc pdq67 Jun 28th, 08, 05:55 PM I'm the "corn-popper car" guy from hell, and it ain't an American car by me????? pdq67 Daydreamer Jun 28th, 08, 06:03 PM looks like a datsun to me Fred Mertz Jun 28th, 08, 08:32 PM Some kind of morphed 510? ace's68 Jun 28th, 08, 08:52 PM I'm not looking at the car but the crowd... Why were there so many people there? I didn't even see that many at the IHRA nationals this year. Steptoe Jun 28th, 08, 11:18 PM Not Scoda..( Cech) And not early 60s Datsun that was like a 56 chevy that shrunk in the wash, later models where more box and smaller Russian as suggested above??? long shot. Being A kiwi, I grew up with all these cars ...driven most of them. pdq67 Jun 29th, 08, 08:53 AM Thanks Steptoe for chiming in. pdq67 Z15CAM Jun 30th, 08, 02:09 AM DjD has it right It's a crossbreed between a English FORD Lotus Cortina and Anglia. I would say a 64 Lotus Cortina body with an Anglia Roof. I believe the British Police used a similar model. The famous Crossworth engine has it's roots in the Anglia. The first car I ever bought was a 69 Ford Cortina. Rallied the Crap out of it while I was in university. The engine was push rod but pistons were reverse hemi and the cross flow heads had provisions for installing a SOHC. I mounted 2 x 2bbl side draft Webers. It was a great Car. Only problem was that it was one of the 1st European Imports with McPherson Struts which I killed within one year of rallying. The car cost $1,900 new compared to the Datson 510 at $2,100 in 69. I sold it for $900 because they wanted $900 for the struts and bought a 72 Challenger 340 MAG RS for $3,800 all the while urning for a 70Z which was $5,300. I couldn't stay away from Rallying and bought a 68 Volvo 140S Coupe than a 74 GL Coupe which I have to say was one of the BEST cars ever built along with the 72 Toyota Crown. Muscle Cars were in a death trowel at this time. I ended up getting my 70Z in 76 for $1,600 and still own it; but my primary driver has always been a 240 Volvo. By the way, Russia did Export Scoda's which looked very much like an Anglia but they had brake reservoirs made from Cambell Tomato soup cans. Needless to say they all rusted out before they sold just sitting in the car lot. |
