hi guys,

our 68 needs an engine...i am deciding on either rebuilding the numbers matching 327 or switch to a crate engine and leave the original in the corner of the garage.

from a resale value...is the car worth more as a "together" numbers matching or with a nice crate motor and the original engine on the side?

thanks for the input...

If your sure it has the original engine it woth more in the car, but if you are going to drive it a bunch than burn up the new engine and get the original oiled up and ready to park. That way you can use it and save it.

I think the better question is .. how much do you plan on driving your car? you can only rebuild an original engine so many times than eventually its done.... personally i like to Drive my car and i wouldnt be happy if my car was a garage paper weight so I would put in the crate or rebuild an engine for the car and park the original in a corner of the garage oil and bag it and save it..

Numbers matching engines are great if you have a collectible model like Z/28 or big clock engine. It will really raise the value of the car. If you are like me and have a plain Jane 327 210HP model it will actually be a better value for the car to put a nice 383 stroker in it. IMHO. If there are other opinions let me know.

The most valuable thing to do to YOUR car is what makes you happy.
